Activist Gwendolyn Hubbard passed away on July 28th. Gwen was a tireless advocate for the rights of people with disabilities, dedicating much of her life to this cause. Her work with ARISE was particularly impactful, where she championed independent living, access to choices, and self-determination for all individuals. Gwen’s unwavering commitment to these principles earned her the Maxwell House 50 American Heroes Award and recognition from First Lady Barbara Bush. Her contributions were instrumental in advancing Disability Rights and the passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Gwen’s legacy will continue to inspire those who fight for equality and accessibility.
