As an organization that serves people of all ages with all types of disabilities, it can be hard to tell our story. At our Celebrating Inclusion and Achieving Independence Dinner event every year, we debut a new video hoping to convey some of ARISE’s impact.
Thanks to Janelle Fields, a member of our Marketing Committee, we connected with the talented folks at Congruent Media. These gifted professionals know how to tell stories in compelling ways, and we were delighted when they agreed to work with us.
We hoped to highlight the five areas that encompass our services: Advocacy and Accessibility; Basic Needs and Assistance; Education, Employment and Skill-Building; Health and Wellness; and Recreation and Art.
We selected five individuals to feature and the creative minds at Congruent went to work. Over the course of a week, they spent time with each person at their home or work, doing interviews and learning about their connections with ARISE.
Donna first came into contact with ARISE when she was looking for a job in Oswego. She knew what she wanted to do and we helped her make it happen. She recently celebrated her 14th anniversary in her position. This past fall, Donna wanted to fulfill her dream of living on her own. We helped her get an apartment. Donna loves her home and the busy life she has made there.
AJ is a member of the ARISE Foundation Board. He is an executive with Enterprise Holdings Company and has hired people with disabilities through our Employment Department. AJ is impressed by the highly qualified people we have referred to him.
Jim is the Exalted Ruler of the Oswego Elks Club. He heard about people in Oswego waiting for ramps and mobilized his members to volunteer with our Oswego Ramp Program.
Katie is Director of Special Education at Lyncourt School and created a partnership with ARISE to provide mental health screenings and services for their students. She has seen the kids develop the skills they need to be successful now and in the future.
Rachel participates in our ARISE & Ski program and rides at ARISE at the Farm. She loves being able to participate in athletic activities and has never let challenges stand in her way.
Congruent Media took their stories and created five amazing videos that are hosted on a brand new site they developed for us: #ARISEis. By going to this site, you can watch each of these outstanding videos and meet people who tell their story – and ours – so powerfully.
Rachel’s video debuted at our dinner event and the response was overwhelming. We are proud of these videos and the people in them. They showcase so well the importance of our work to make it possible for all people, regardless of disability, to achieve their dreams. As Rachel says in her video, “ARISE is important because it shows that with a little help, anything is possible.”
