Farm Camp 2020 is Open

Farm Camp staff preparing for campers

ARISE at the Farm will be conducting Farm Camp 2020 in three one-week sessions. The first session will be held August 10 through August 14, the second session August 17 through August 21, and the third session August 24 through August 28.

Farm Camp is open to all children, with preference given to children with developmental disabilities. In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, ARISE at the Farm will be following the New York State Department of Health’s Child Care and Day Camp guidance, as well as the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) safety procedures and guidelines. We are encouraging campers to wear a face mask, as tolerated, and Camp Counselors will be required to wear face coverings at all times when interacting with campers, regardless of the distance between the two.  Additionally, upon arrival all staff and campers will complete a daily health screening.

When campers arrive, they will be asked to stay in their cars while the Camp Director and Camp Medical Director complete the screening. Campers will have their temperature taken and anyone with a temperature of 100.4 or higher, or anyone exhibiting signs or symptoms of COVID-19 upon arrival or at any point during the day, will be sent home immediately. Campers will also be expected to perform hand hygiene immediately following the completion of the assessment.

All campers will remain in the same small group for the week, which will consist of less than 10 campers to a group. Social distancing practices will be implemented, and hand hygiene will occur upon arrival to the first program activity, between all program activities, after using the restroom, before eating, and before departing the last program activity. Staff will also be cleaning shared and frequently touched surfaces before and after use, and minimally every hour.

In addition to horseback riding and horse cart driving, Farm Camp also includes:

  • Biking
  • Fishing
  • Hiking
  • Story Telling
  • Arts and Crafts
  • Visiting the Farm’s petting zoo
  • Daily Flag Ceremony
  • Horse Grooming
  • Field Games
