Inclusive Recreation
ARISE at the Farm offers a many different Inclusive Recreation Programs tailored for different age groups and interests. We currently offer:
Summer Recreation in Madison County is a summer day program open to all children, with preference given to children with developmental disabilities. We offer one-week sessions at ARISE at the Farm, our 77-acre working horse farm in North Chittenango, where participants can experience biking, fishing, traditional summer activities and play on our fully inclusive playground. Our trained staff support each participant’s individual needs to maximize fun and safety. We also offer special weeks for adult participants from Oswego County and siblings of children with disabilities.
Summer Recreation follows the Farm’s policy of a 1:3 ratio of recreation counselors to participants. Individuals may also have the option of being paired with an individual volunteer who is trained and briefed on the participant’s special needs to ensure that every person can experience all the Farm has to offer in a safe manner.
Recreation programming also includes:
- Biking
- Fishing
- Hiking
- Singing, Dancing and Karaoke
- Arts and Crafts
- Visiting the Farm’s animals
- Field Games
- Pony or Cart Rides
- Inclusive Playground
- Weekly Award Ceremony
