ARISE Has a New Board President

On January 1, 2020, a long-time advocate for people with disabilities in Central New York, Agnes McCray became the President of the ARISE Operating Board.

McCray started advocating for improved accessibility and the right to live independently while in her teens. She has participated in numerous protests and demonstrations to secure the rights for people with “extravagant differences” as she often says. Before becoming President, McCray served as Vice President of the ARISE Operating Board.

McCray, who has cerebral palsy, can often be seen in her electric wheelchair at community functions. She has also traveled across the state to champion a cause or policy concerning those with disabilities.
