Make a Resolution!
Since the New Year is upon us and everyone is deciding on resolutions, I hope you decide to get some exercise in. Everyone should have access to pursue athletic activities regardless of physical abilities. I’ve done some research in hopes of finding an organization where these activities are possible. To my surprise, there are many adaptive sports programs available to people with disabilities in CNY. Here are some adaptive programs available: sled hockey, wheelchair basketball, kayaking and paddling, cycling, tennis and pickleball. Many of these programs are offered through CNY Adaptive Sports. If you would like to contact them phone: (315) 350-1726 or email hello@cnyadaptivesports.org.
We can offer: ARISE & Ski, Horseback riding, fishing and adaptive biking at ARISE at the Farm! (Check out this link: https://www.ariseinc.org/services/recreation-and-art/ ) I have been skiing for years with ARISE and I love it! If you would like to participate in an activity but need help with adaptive equipment check out this link to ARISE Adaptive Design!
If you enjoy fishing, hunting, and outdoor adventures, check out Advanced Strategies Adventures. ASA provides physically challenged, elderly and young individuals with free guided tours. They have a pontoon boat on Oneida Lake or Skaneateles Lake for fishing. They also have hiking trails if you just want to go out bird watching. Pretty much if you have an adventure you’d like to take, ASA will find a way to make that happen. For more detailed information, or to book a trip, go online to: Www.advancedstrategiesadventures.org or call Lloyd Weigel at (315) 656-9050.
If you are more of the indoor type check out Adaptive Dance in Fayetteville. Website: https://www.fredastaire.com/syracuse/para-dancelessons/.
Make those resolutions a new habit for a healthy 2025. Good luck!
